Q. What is a deductible? What is copayment/coinsurance?
A. A deductible is a stipulated amount that the covered person must pay toward the cost of medical treatment, before the benefits of the program go into effect. Copayment/coinsurance is a provision of a plan by which the beneficiary shares in the cost of certain covered expenses on a percentage basis.
Q. Why am I getting two bills for one service, when I have never seen this radiologist?
A. You may receive a bill from the place of service in addition to one from a radiologist. The place of service bills for the technical component (use of the facilities and equipment) and the radiologist bills for the professional component (the reading of the x-ray).
Q. What are my payment options?
A. We accept cash, checks, cashiers checks, money orders, Visa, MasterCard, and Discover. The RCI Imaging Center and Vein & Interventional Clinic also accept debit cards.
Q. When is my balance due?
A. The balance is due upon receipt. If payment in full is not possible, please call 800-747-9729 or 319-832-1735 to discuss payment arrangements.
Q. What is “HIPAA”?
A. HIPAA stands for the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996. This defines and limits the circumstances in which an individual’s protected health information can be used or disclosed by a covered entity.
Q. I have received a Transworld letter. Will this affect my credit report?
A. RCI utilizes the assistance of Transworld Systems Inc. to recover debts. We are not interested in ruining anyone’s credit, we just wish to be paid for services rendered. Transworld takes many steps to recover the debt prior to taking legal action.
Q. How do I contact my insurance company?
A. To contact your insurance company, please refer to the phone number on the back of your insurance card. Contact information may be listed on your Explanation of Benefits or insurance contract. You may also check with your Human Resources Representative at your place of employment.
